efterklang & the danish national chamber orchestra

i have just purchased and i am now listening to the excellent live recording of parades by efterklang who have been accompanied by the danish national chamber orchestra this time around. due to this i'm in a very uplifted mood and feeling very happy. the album reminds me a bit of the spiritualized at the albert hall but possible with more leanings towards godspeed you! black emperor with bits of arcade fire spliced in and sung in danish.

the copy i got has a dvd of the gig as well which i'm still to watch, however from the couple of clips that i have seen on youtube i can look forward to pointy hats, rosey cheeks and all kinds of interesting clothing. to be honest when i first saw a clip i was reminded of devo but that was just a quick thought.

i have only just found out that efterklang played the barbican the other week and i missed it. i have also found out that spiritualized are playing there as well in december but is sold out. i hate to do it but i think that i might have to check ebay for tickets.

friendship - gig, 'tache & the graveyard shift

i've seen friendship now a number of times over the past nine or so months and they are definitely one of my favourite new bands. both band members (willard & hills) have excellent hair - both facial and aplomb their bonces and that can only be a good thing. hills, the moustachioed drummer, makes me want to grow my 'tache back. as the winter months are drawing in it might be a good idea to help my top lip from getting a bit cold.

the graveyard shift is their first single and what a corker it is. released back in april it's still got my attention and is played regularly, usually in the morning on the way to work. it really makes me want to jump up and down and regularly have to restrain myself from doing so while on the tube. the copy i got came with a free cd of the video which i was well chuffed with. you can check it out below or pick it up here

earlier today i saw that they have some gigs lined up and are playing the stags head in east london on the 21 november, so i will be there for sure. there are other dates around the country to and i highly recommend checking them out.
